You can and should pay attention to gas mileage ratings when deciding on which car to buy ...

Gas prices have become extremely expensive these days. There are some states that are reporting gas prices over four dollars per gallon. With gas prices so expensive, you want a car that gets good gas mileage. That way, you're not stopping at the pump every few days to fill up.

The better gas mileage your car gets, the less gas you'll have to buy and the more money you'll save month after month and year after year. But how can you determine which cars get the best gas mileage? You can and should pay attention to gas mileage ratings when deciding on which car to buy. You can find gas mileage ratings in all sorts of places. While gas mileage may not be the only thing on your list that determines what car you want, but it should be at the top of the list.

Gas Mileage Ratings - Look Online

When looking online at gas mileage ratings, pay attention to which sites you're reading. For example, if the website you're viewing shows great gas mileage ratings for the Honda Accord and then you see that the website is sponsored by Honda, well those gas mileage ratings may be a little biased. What you want are gas mileage ratings that are unbiased. You want them from actual consumers who have used those cars, who have experienced first hand the gas mileage, whether it's good or bad, and you want them from experts who know how to rate the gas mileage of cars. Only then can you get an unbiased report and then you can base your decision on which car to buy on those gas mileage ratings.

Gas Mileage Ratings - Consumer Report Magazines

Consumer report magazines are great for knowing which products to buy no matter what they are. Consumer report magazines report on washing machines, vacuum cleaners, computers, ipods and they even provide gas mileage ratings on cars and other vehicles. These reports are generally unbiased so you can be sure that you're getting an accurate depiction of the gas mileage ratings.

Gas Mileage Ratings - Shop Around

When car shopping, you may notice that the gas mileage is listed on the sticker that's on the window of the cars on the lot. The gas mileage is listed next to all rest of the specs regarding that particular automobile. What you can do, if you have the time and energy, is write down the gas mileage from each car you want to buy and then make your own gas mileage ratings.

You can get gas mileage ratings from one of the sources above or you can get them from all three. Then, when you finally do buy the car you want, you'll know that you're going to save loads of money on gas, which is something we all wish we could do.
